A piece of sports equipment you can jump around on during class?
Sounds unusual – but it’s exactly what schools need.
You don’t want to do gymnastics.
You don’t want to balance.
You don’t want to sweat.
We get that.
But here are strong reasons why Piccolo should also have a place in schools:
Your brain loves new challenges – especially those that are just difficult enough to demand attention while still being achievable.
These short movement breaks stimulate circulation, increase oxygen supply, and help students feel refreshed and focused again.
When sitting still for long periods – for example during teacher-led instruction – the body adapts to the posture.
Muscles weaken, and the back and shoulders can become strained.
With Piccolo, you instinctively become active: the tapes encourage proper body alignment, stabilize the core, and can help prevent postural damage.
Proprioception and sensorimotor integration are not just empty words.
These processes are essential for body and brain to work together – especially for children and adolescents who are still in the learning phase.
Long periods of sitting have negative effects:
They slow down metabolism, reduce calorie consumption, and weaken important muscles.
They also impact mood and long-term health – increasing risk factors for the cardiovascular system, the musculoskeletal system, and mental well-being.
That’s why schools need more movement!
A surface that requires slight rocking or balancing combines physical activity with mental challenge.
Movement + learning = better memory retention, improved focus, stronger problem-solving skills.
