What is it?

Spondylolisthesis occurs when an individual vertebra slips forward or backward. Mostly in the lower lumbar part of the spine. It is normally caused by general wear on the joints or damage to an individual vertebral arch – spondylolysis. This is when a gap develops in the spinal column due to overload from sporting activities, although it can be there from birth.

The spinal column becomes unstable. And this can cause pain and restrict your movements. If this then leads to compression of the spinal cord or nerve damage, it can impact neurological function.

What’s important at this stage?

A weak back requires life-long care. It is essential to activate and strengthen the stabilising muscles. Back training should be just as much a part of your day as brushing your teeth.

If your back is unstable, other muscles tend to overcompensate. The shoulders and neck, buttocks and even the thighs can become overstrained.

«The right treatment can stop these slips.»

Where does Sensopro come in?

The flexible tapes on the Sensopro Luna and Casa automatically activate the deep muscles during training. They work non-stop. This protects the spinal column from being overloaded and relaxes the surface muscles.

«Sport can be an effective treatment for patients with spondylolisthesis. But not every type of sport is suitable as you have to avoid overloading the back.»
