Growing up in Lauterbrunnen, Martina was already on skis at the age of two. She was soon earmarked for participation in elite sports when she joined the local ski club and started to win races.

However, her skiing success was interrupted by injuries to her back, knees and hand. At some point, her back, in particular, could no longer cope with the strain.

«After my surgery, I stopped competitive sport and started training as a ski instructor. The doctors initially said I'd never ski again, so of course I did the opposite, and signed up for the course straight away.»

Martina had to learn a second discipline during the ski instructor training. Unsuspectingly, she chose telemark. When she also competed in the Snowhappening with telemark skis directly after her training, her amazing talent was quickly discovered.

Two weeks after the Snowhappening, the national coach called Martina. He wanted her to take part in the training sessions and subsequently in the World Cup race. At the first five World Cup races, Martina was always in the top 5, despite not even know exactly what she was doing. «The main thing was to somehow get down the slope fast.»

«It stirred something within me. I stuck with it because I liked the feeling of being in a team again and I regained the competitive edge that I had been missing for a few years.»

In her rehabilitation and physiotherapy sessions, Martina has trained predominantly on the Luna. This has enabled her to grow accustomed to certain movements again, to train her coordination skills and to activate the feeling in her muscles. But now she also needs the Casa regularly at home.

«I need them a lot, including on my regeneration days so I can stay active and the injuries I’ve had need a lot of care. That’s why I’m very happy to have the Casa at home.»
