Neck pain

"Ouch, my neck!" - This could be tension. But it could also be the famous stiff neck. Who has never had that? However, neck pain has many different causes, not all of which can simply be massaged away.

What is it?

Strictly speaking, the neck is the uppermost part of the back and consists of seven cervical vertebrae, many small, short muscles and a few large muscles that span the shoulders and upper back.

The smaller muscles do the hardest work: balancing our 6 kilogram head. However, as most people in our part of the world have a rather one-sided movement habit, maintaining balance is a major challenge. And it often leads to imbalances - complaints caused by uneven strain.

These often include the shoulder girdle, as the large muscles such as the trapezius, rhomboids or levator scapulae tend to cause painful tension and radiate into the shoulder.

What matters now?

First of all, you need to know the causes of your pain. Pain often comes from one of these four triggers:

  • Muscle tension due to poor posture or cold stimulus
  • Injuries such as whiplash
  • Age-related wear and tear such as osteoarthritis and herniated discs
  • Disease-related causes, such as meningitis or rheumatic inflammation

Your specialist will be able to give you tips on whether you should take it easy or move around.

Where does Sensopro come in?

As most neck pain improves with gentle movement, training on the tapes is a good choice from a very early stage. The unstable surface activates the short muscles close to the spine in particular. This, in turn, relieves the strained large muscles. The more input it receives via the postural reflexes (automatic straightening that happens without thinking), the more naturally the musculo-articular system works again.
